My First Day at an American High School: Expectations vs. Reality πΊπΈπ
Before I moved to the USA, I saw many movies about American high schools. I was nervous and excited at the same time. Now that I am here, I want to share what my first day was actually like and how it was different from what I expected.
1. The Size of the School π« The first thing that shocked me was the size. My school is huge! I was afraid of getting lost in the corridors. But I quickly learned that everyone—teachers and students—is ready to help if you just ask.
2. The Famous Yellow School Bus π Seeing the yellow bus at 7:01 AM was like being in a movie. Riding it for the first time was a great experience. It’s not just a ride; it’s where you first start talking to your mates and seeing the city.
3. The 'Vibe' in the Classroom ✨ I expected the classes to be very strict, but they are actually very interactive. Teachers encourage us to speak, share our opinions, and work in groups. In my Engineering class, the teacher felt more like a mentor than a boss.
4. Making My First Friend π€ I was worried about my English, but I met a student who was very patient. We started talking about sports and our gym period. That’s when I realized that a smile and a positive attitude are the best ways to communicate.
Conclusion: My first day wasn't perfect, but it was the start of an amazing journey. If you are starting school in a new country, don't worry! It gets easier every day. What was your first day of school like? Tell me your story! π
